Ok this book was something else. Interesting and different what I read. It was Fun and well written. Cant wait for the next story 😊
I had higher hopes for Pavel. I think he was one of my faves from the beginning. I didn’t think he had enough suspense or action aside from with Kayla. I thought the book was good. Wasn’t one of my favorites in the series but now I get to see what the twins got for me. Bring on Dima haha. Looking forward to more excitement and heat from these Russian boys in the next few books
I love the story, drama, not a lot of angst & HEA!! I will be reading more of your books..
I love the frist book in this wonderful series and now I have to read them all. Pavel's book is no driften. It got it all, like all Renee's books have. I got hardness, sweetness, nerve and beautiful words that's sucks me in the beautiful world of words❤️
I love this story. A great combination of a little kink, a love story and of course the Bratva.
This was my least favorite story in the series, I love the stories and the characters but I felt Pavil's story line was a bit weak. I will definitely still read the other books in the series.
Pavel and Kayla were just great characters in this Chicago Bratva Series. The Soldier had me reading into the night, losing some sleep, but it was certainly worth it. Awesome read with a great storyline and ending!
I really enjoyed Pavel and Kayla’s story. It was very hot! I’m lovin this series so much! I’m on to the next book now.
Man, I love these books so much! I lose sleep over Rene Rose’s book series. These are a must-read! The Bratva men are so hot!!!
I love the relationship that Pavel and Kayla had. Eventho it wasn't the everyone didn't understand it. But it work for them.
Pavel and Kayla had an unusual love because it wasn’t traditional, it is based on a Master/Submissive relationship. Kayla roommates didn’t understand and thought the worst for her. Kayla changed Pavel In so many ways. He was dark and he got off by hurting her but she got off by allowing him to be himself and she enjoyed it just as much. I loved this story because she was a woman who saw her man as her lover, supporter of her career and her protector. To Pavel she was his little flower who blossomed into the love that he so needed in his life. Renee did an amazing job with their story. I also like how she tie in the other Bratva brothers in each book.
The Soldier is the fourth installment in Renee Rose’s Chicago Bratva series. In this book, readers witness the romantic journey of Kayla Winstead and Pavel Pushkin. She is an aspiring actress and a submissive. He is a soldier with the Chicago Bratva. She is innocent and pure. She lives in LA. He is the opposite and lives in Chicago. Destiny brings them together, but can she give them a happily ever after? To find out you must read this book.I enjoy Ms. Rose’s writing style and her perfect blend of drama and romance. Her characters are likeable. I like her two-prong approach to her plotline. One prong being the romance and the other the internal struggle of the lead characters. Through her skill with literary devices such as dialog, POV, and descriptive language, Ms. Rose penned another delightful and enjoyable book. Nice job, Ms. Rose.
I can’t believe I forgot to leave a review for this book, especially since Pavel is my favorite in the series. Shame on me!As always, I’m not going to summarize the book. There are plenty of those available. I’m just going to share a few thoughts and feelings of my own and hopefully convince you to read this wonderful story. To begin with let me say, I loved this book. Period. I had assumed Pavel would be the last member of the family to find love and was pleasantly surprised when he met Kayla and despite everything, including his own resistance, he now has a life filled with happiness. He might not have wanted it to but love found him and gave him exactly what he didn’t know he needed or think he deserved.Pavel & Kayla are just beyond adorable together. He’s definitely the most broken and stubborn of the bunch. I loved watching him slowly open up and accept he’s actually worth loving and capable of real love in return. Kayla is his perfect partner in every way and they bring out the best in each other. I love how she isn’t afraid to feel and is willing to go after what she knows she needs. She’s such an upbeat happy person and Pavel so needs upbeat and happy in his life. If you’re going to read this, and I highly recommend you do, take the time to read their first scene in the Black Light: Roulette Rematch anthology. It’s not their official meet-cute, that happens in “The Fixer”, but their time at Black Light is the real beginning of their story and you will enjoy this book that much more if you do. Even better, start from the very beginning and read them all. They are so worth your time. This series is the best and each book is just better than the last.
Ok. In this book we return to a more hardcore D/s relationship. Pascal is making trips back to LA to see his slave Kayla. They had met in the "prequel" in Black Light Roulette. You dont have to read that to pick up their story. Its a long distance relationship between a guy who doesnt dig deeper in his relationship nor share more within. But its also about acceptance. This relationship felt more superficial than others in the series, but its very well written, perfect jealous and possessive male charcter, super smexy times, and a little action to keep interesting. Off to read thr next in the series.
Pavel and Kayla apparently met in the Black Light series, and I'm behind so I better get cracking! This was a lovely emotional tale a with lots of sincerity. Pavel is such a dirty alpha Dom and it waa fun to see his personality shine.
I really enjoyed this book as I have the others in the series. I liked the interaction between the characters in the stories.I liked The storyBecause it kept moving and made you want to know what happened next. I wanted more when the book finished.
Pavel and Kayla....smoking hot, I loved their story line Pavel is so broken through no fault of his own. Kayla has enough love first the both of them, with him being around her he's coming around but he has a lot to learn about. I can't wait for the next one, I have enjoyed every last one that Renee has written. Dima's should be interesting.
I love story which shows just how much love can change a person. This book did that superbly I highly recommend
I love this series right from the first book. The storyline to Pavel and Kayla's story is good. However for me something was missing in this story. Pavel is a strong personality who does great as a dom. I think my problem is with Kayla. She seemed a little wishy, washy, She seemed to always second guess herself. I still gave it 4 stars, mainly because of Pavel. His character developed throughout the story. He was very protective of Kayla and tried to put her safety first. This whole series will give you a few hours of hot, steamy reading, along with a happy ending, with a few unexpected twists along the way.
This is part of a series and is definitely a romantizied view of organized crime as each books concentrates on a member of this cell in Chicago. I am hooked and cant wait for the next book.
I enjoyed this book. I am getting tired of “mafia” stories in general but this one was well done. I love Renee Rose’s writing.
This latest edition in the Chicago Bratva has all the feels: knees knocking, thighs clinching, goose bumps popping, and swooning hearts. Plus just the right amount of angst. This book centers around Pavel and Kayla. They met in a previous book, The Fixer. This story picks up with Pavel trying to figure out how to be a proper Dom and boyfriend. It is fun to watch him bumble along while maintaining his macho façade. And Kayla finds her strength within her submissive ways. I highly recommend this book.
I honestly did not know what to really expect from this book, as I had not read any other books in this series. That said, it did just fine as a stand alone and I was more than capable of getting into it without feeling like I was missing something. This was a lovely story. I will say I expected Pavel to be far more sadistic than he was. He came off more as a pleasure Dom with a slight impact kink. He seemed to really adore Kayla. I appreciate how her friends worried about her, but they really needed to trust her judgment a little bit more. Support goes a long way.I will say that I did really enjoy it and plan on backtracking to read the rest of the series.
We were first introduced to Kayla and Pavel in Black Light: Roulette Rematch. I am very happy that they have their own story! Man do they steam up the pages with their growing relationship! I love the development of the characters! My one issue was it felt like the end was rushed and I felt there could have been more development in their story at the end! Otherwise Renee Rose did an amazing job! I can't wait for the next installment!
I wasn't sure how I felt about this book. Still, I pushed through because I just wanted to know if Pavel and Kayla would get their happy ever after. They do after a few bumps along the way, I do wish it hadn't ended so soon. It was a great story and great to see them fall in love.
Enjoyed a lot.of this book and read it in one sitting. I was afraid it would be about the downfall of an innocent. But rather it was about the redemption of a damaged soul. Thank you for giving more than one demotion to our hero and heroine
I had mixed feelings about the story but I am glad I persevered. I do not understand or enjoy reading anything to do with sadism and knowing that Pavel was a sadist almost stopped me from reading the book. However understanding his backstory and seeing the personal growth in his relationships both with Kayla and with his “family” changed my mind. His transformation was amazing and, while it is not my favourite one in the series, I still enjoyed it. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
The storyline was great and I really liked it a lot, but the follow-through wasn’t completely there and a lot of contradictions in the book.I didn’t like the fact he kept a big secret from her, it was her friend who spilled the beans. There was no communication between the H/h. And I do mean NO COMMUNICATION.He kept repeating throughout the entire book how he broke her but I never read any indication of that so I’m confused on what he means. He made one comment in passing about him wanting to move back to Russia and all of a sudden that’s all the h focused on. Every scene she was in, it was mentioned thereafter. Became extremely redundant after the 5th time of reading it.He tells her he loves her over the phone for the first time and then later in the book, he says it to her face and then she’s all giddy and says “he told me he loved me for the first time ever. Yippie, I’m so excited… blah blah blah.” Me: 🤦🏻♀️ Oh lawdy, this book is a mess. Someone fix it. Please!ARC copy for honest review
This whole series has been fantastic, and doesn't feel like a typical mafia (Russian or otherwise) romance. The romance is intense, and the characters likeable.I volunteered to review an ARC.
